Created by Keymaster Games

This ghoulish game of bluffing and deduction just got a whole lot campier.

Latest Updates from Our Project:

Control 2nd Edition
almost 6 years ago – Mon, Oct 22, 2018 at 09:12:46 PM

Let's Talk about Control 2nd Edition

We’ve loved to see everyone’s excitement for Campy Creatures, but wanted to address another topic that has come up frequently - Control 2nd Edition. This post details everything you need to know before it is made available in BackerKit after the campaign. But first, some history.

Control was the first game we Kickstarted. Starting as a passion project that Mattox and Kyle tackled early in their friendship between Xbox sessions and Game nights, it became the launch pad for Keymaster Games. The goal was to create something quick and portable using Kyle’s art and Mattox’s font/design. It resulted in a successful campaign and ultimately we sold out of all our copies earlier this year. While this needed to go for reprint months ago, when the team met in June to plan the Campy Creatures 2nd Edition and Expansion I, we couldn’t ignore our itch to tinker with Control. Because of this delay, we decided to skip a Kickstarter and take it straight to consumers.

More Portable and More Affordable

  • Comes in a tuck box, just like a deck of cards, reducing overall box footprint
  • Box will be embossed with some form of foiling accent on it
  • Round trackers are being removed. While the metal tokens were a nice feature of the previous edition, they are not essential for gameplay.
  • New cost of game, $10

Mechanics and Artwork Updates

  • Player draws every turn allowing for faster gameplay, two-player variant
  • Additional reference cards are being added to the box as requested by players in the past
  • Honed in on gameplay and refined cards text on more than half the deck
  • Card art was touched up to include a little more texture
  • Type and iconography have been cleaned up

If you are a previous backer of control you can find the new Print and Play at this link here. If you're new to Control and would like to grab a copy of the Print and Play, you can buy that through our website here. Updated rules are also available for download on our website.

Day 1! Thank You!!!
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 20, 2018 at 04:11:08 AM

Hello fellow Mad Scientists!

Day 1 is coming to a close here on the east coast and what a day it has been! We funded in under 2 hours and are now over halfway to our first Stretch Goal! This could not be possible without the tremendous support of our amazing community.

THANK YOU!

On top of that, our comments section is filled with great conversation and feedback, things that are essential to growing and improving projects! Thank you to everyone participating in the comments as well :) Tomorrow, we will be doing a livestream on our Facebook page of the Keymaster Team playing the Expansion on Tabletop Simulator. We will be fielding questions while trying to keep Matt from flipping the table.

Before we leave you for the night we want to hit on 2 quick topics that came out of today's discussion. We haven't finalized decisions regarding addons, but wanted to share our current thinking regarding the below.

1) The Conversion Kit
The Conversion Kit is a feature of this campaign that we are really proud to offer. It allows us to make some great changes to Campy Creatures for all current and future mad scientists to enjoy, while all honoring our original backers and current owners of the 1st Edition. The Conversion Kit takes into account the specific card components that received revamping in the 2nd Edition (Mortal Cards and Locations) and provides them to every backer of the Expansion tier pledge. There have been many questions about this Conversion Kit so we have built an FAQ tab for it, and will work to keep that tab as clear as possible throughout the campaign.

2) Control 2nd Edition
We are so excited to reprint Control! There was a ton to love in the 1st Edition and there's more to love about this 2nd Edition! While today we focused on Campy Creatures, you can expect to see the website page for Control get updated with information about the new edition along with an update in the coming days dedicated to explaining all the things that are new. Several people have asked about a conversion kit for Control Second Edition. Every card has received some change to either wording or mechanics except for Nova and over half the cards are changing materially.

Again, thank you all for the tremendous support today, and remember:

New Pledge Tier - Conversion Edition
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 20, 2018 at 04:10:19 AM

Woah! We did not see that coming. We were the most popular campaign on Kickstarter for a few hours yesterday and are still sitting in second at the time of this update. Thank you so much! This is in large part due to the amount of interaction we've had in the campaign comments. The hottest topic? Getting 1st Edition owners access to the 2nd Edition components not included in the Conversion Kit. Instead of handling this by creating individual add-on items, we've decided to create a new item - the Conversion Box - along with its own Pledge Tier.

The Conversion Edition is $25 and requires the 1st Edition to play. The Conversion Edition contains a copy of Expansion I and the Conversion Box, which includes all of the new and updated mortal and location cards, the 2nd Edition Box, an updated Clash-O-Meter, updated Clash Markers, and updated Creature Tokens. It will also include all the stretch goals we reach for both Expansion I and Campy Creatures 2nd Edition.

The Conversion Kit, which includes updated cards and the 2nd Edition rulebook, is still included with the $13 Expansion I pledge tier and additional copies will be available for purchase after the campaign via BackerKit.

In other news

Today we also attempted to hold our first livestream to show off gameplay of Campy Creatures Expansion I via Tabletop Simulator. Naturally, our technology went bananas right before we were supposed to go live. You can still see a video of our Marketing Director, Jen, talking about the Campaign and answering some questions. We'll get that gameplay livestream rescheduled soon!

If you haven't seen them already, Jeremiah Isley from Theology of Games, wrote a preview for Expansion I and 2nd Edition. You can read that preview here. The Rat Hole, produced by David Chapman, also just published a review of Campy Creatures and wrote a piece about the new Kickstarter, which you can check out here. Thank you Jeremiah and David!

That's it for this update, but we still have lots in store. We will be previewing our enamel pin concept, talking about Control 2nd Edition, and more in future updates. Keep the comments coming and don't forget to give us a share on your social media platform of choice! Let's get those wooden tokens!

Stretch Goal 1 + Emrich Office Sale
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 20, 2018 at 04:10:10 AM

Stretch Goal 1 is Unlocked!

Our first ghoulish stretch goal has been unlocked. Every copy of Expansion I will now include wooden Venom/Power Up tokens. Hurray!

Our next stretch goal is a wrapped board. Many have asked what this looks like so we've added some pictures below for reference from the game board for Karmaka. Basically, the paper that graphics are printed on for game boards gets adhered to a board top and then cut to make the edges. With a wrapped board, the board is cut first and then the paper is wrapped around those edges making them smooth and rounded.

Sale at Emrich Office

Did you know our esteemed artist, Josh Emrich is having a sale on his Campy Creatures goodies? It ends tonight at Midnight. head over to emrich.co and be sure to enter the promo code "CAMPY" to get 20% off.

In the Media

Tom Gurganus, of Go Forth and Game, interviewed with us about Campy Creatures 2nd Edition and the Expansion. You can hear that interview here. The Lytane Variety Show shared a video they did of Campy Creatures play through, which is a lot of fun to watch. Theology of Games also did this audio bit for Campy Creatures which we think is pretty rad!

Lastly, if you have a couple minute to watch, Mattox took the time to build a video explaining what's different between 1st Edition and 2nd Edition of Campy Creatures. You can view that video here. We'll also add it to the campaign page.

Add-Ons Reveal #1
almost 6 years ago – Sat, Oct 20, 2018 at 04:09:49 AM

Here Comes Week 2

In our first week, we hit our funding goal faster than any other campaign we've had. We smashed our 1st stretch goal and are more than a third of the way to our 2nd. What's more, with your help, we were able to improve our pledge tier options to include the Conversion Edition. It was a good week, but time to look forward. Week 2 brings us our first Add-On Reveal!

Add-On: Posters

Back by popular demand are Giclee Prints of ALL of the creatures. Our creature print dimensions are 8in x 10in. These prints are timed editions, exclusive to our Campy Creature Kickstarter campaigns. We do not sell these prints at other times, whether on our website or at conventions. Options will include all base game creatures (including the Demogorgon) and all expansion creatures.

What is Giclee?

Giclee (pronounced Gee’clay) is a French term meaning to spray or squirt, which is how an inkjet printer works. However, it is not the same as a standard desktop inkjet printer, and is much larger and more detailed. Giclee prints can be a little over a meter wide and are printed on high quality archival papers. Giclee is the best way to produce archival reproductions of your fine art and photography.

Below are the Poster options that will be available in BackerKit. You will able able to choose which monsters you'll receive at each of the addon tiers. The expansion monster art is being finished this week and will be updated when available!

In addition to the 8 x 10 prints, Campy's artist, Josh Emrich, is offering prints through his website! These prints are larger in size, 18in x 24in, and are limited print editions of 50 and 100. Of special note, his Monster print will include Glow-In-The-Dark ink! Note, these prints will not be available in Backerkit so no need to wait! Get your favorite before they are gone.
